Historic Key West’s Old City Hall

This historic landmark was dedicated EXACTLY 100 years to the day of our nations centennial celebration on July 4th, 1876. How’s that for a trivia tidbit! The first city hall was built of wood and stood only 10 years before being burnt to the ground in 1886. The current brick building was built in its place after the terrible fire and has seen many interior & exterior modifications. Here’s a blast from the past previous blog! Welcome to Indian Key’s abandoned water cisterns! “So what’s a cistern?” you might ask. A cistern is a waterproof receptacle for holding liquids, usually water.
