Yet Another Giant Chair

Believe me, there’s more than a dozen of these throughout the Keys. Though it’s not the largest one in the entire Florida Keys, it’s the biggest one in Key West that I’ve ran across! You can find Key West’s largest chair exactly across the street from the ‘Tree Trunk Straddling A Block Fence’ in the Subway parking lot at the corner of Truman Avenue & Center Street. Come down and enjoy all that the Conch Capital of Key West has to offer! Shoestring Weekend

Key West’s 156 Year Naval Station History

Key West has long since had a military presence with its current emphasis on Air Force. In the past, the Navy was the overwhelming Big Brother of the Keys with an astounding amount of personnel in the area. Welcome to the former Naval Station that ruled this island for some 156 years. Lamps The Size Of Doors!

These brass lamp icons actually light up at night and are impossible to miss as you stroll just 2-blocks northeast of Key West’s famous Duval Street. The Key West Federal Building Courthouse is the home of these two ginormous brass lit beacons. Also at this location is one of Key West’s Post Offices and its Customs House. You can find these oversized lamps at 301 Simonton Street here in Key West.      Shoestring Weekend

‘Pecker Power’ & ‘None Of Your Business’ are the humorous topics for today’s blog. So what in the heck am I talking about? I absolutely love reading nicknames given to boats along the nearly 128 miles of the Florida Keys and Key West. There are literally 1,000’s of them, and some you’ll find just as humorous as these two! ‘Pecker Power’ believe it or not it the name of this houseboat docked in Key Largo at the beginning of the Keys while ‘None Of Your Business’ was found deep inside Key West...
