Got Jets? Marathon Air Museum Does!
On display outside the museum doors behind a fence you’ll see a jet engine clearly marked plus a yellow plane weathervane. Inside the museum they have many aviation artifacts from the Florida Keys including pieces from World War II and the original beacon that was on the ground when the airport was built.
Since being beside the Marathon Airport, many tourists sadly miss this thinking that it’s just another airplane hangar and keep on driving never giving it a second look.
You can find this easily missed attraction at the east end of the Marathon Airport at Mile Marker 52.0 bayside on US-1 before the Seven Mile Bridge… that is if you’re heading south!
